In the spirit of Rahwa Habte’s work and commitment to community we aim to continue to build and sustain an intergenerational space for arts and cultural workers from the Black and African Diaspora and Indigenous communities to thrive collectively and collaboratively.

For years BPU has operated a venue and cafe space in addition to renting the back classroom, library and lodge to Creative Justice to run 5 weekly programs for QT/BIPOC youth and young adults.

Together BPU and CJ seek to revitalize the space, reopen the Creative Cafe and fortify this intergenerational space in the historically Black Central District of Seattle.
